На современном этапе основной функцией украшений перестает быть магико-охранительная, а вместе с тем теряется их социально-статусная функция. Настоящее исследование впервые комплексно анализирует генезис якутского головного украшения бастынга в XVIII–XXI вв. Авторами установлена типология бастынга, показана трансформация якутского головного украшения бастынга с его характерными элементами. На его примере в статье описывается, как украшение из разряда ритуального, дифференцирующего и маркирующего элемента костюма, постепенно утрачивая свои функции, переходит в категорию декоративных элементов. Подчеркивается, что этот процесс отражает общие тенденции в изменении комплекса женских украшений под влиянием модернизации.
At the present stage, the main function of jewelry ceases to be magical and protective, and at the same time, the social and status function is lost. This study is the first to comprehensively analyze the genesis of the Yakut headdress bastynga from the 18th – 19th centuries. The aim of this work is to identify the stages of changing the appearance and symbolic function of jewelry using the example of a bastynga headpiece. The main approach is the theory of the multifunctionality of jewelry: magical-religious protective symbolism, gender- and age-differentiating, status-marking and decorative. A comparative analysis of jewelry of the 18th – 19th centuries and 20th – 21st centuries was conducted. It is based on the typology of bastynga jewelry of the 18th – early 20th century, developed by the authors based on the analysis of the structural elements of jewelry features from archaeological and ethnographic collections of museums. In the course of the study, the authors established that the typology of the bastynga (3 main types with 5 subtypes were identified), the transformation of the Yakut bastynga headdress with detailed characteristic elements is shown, using its example one can observe how the decoration from the category of a ritual, differentiating and marking element of the costume, gradually losing its functions, turns into a decorative element. This process reflects the general trends in changing the complex of women's jewelry under the influence of modernization.
