This paper examines the “metallic” epithets in the Yakut Olonkho and Altai kai chӧrchӧk in a comparative aspect in order to reveal the parallels and specific features of the functioning of these epithets in the epic of peoples related in the historical past. The following methods were used: contextual analysis, analysis of dictionary definitions, quantitative methods, and the inductive method, which allows generalizing the results of applying all the methods. The comparative study revealed many similarities. In both epics, metal epithets in the structure are radical, derived from the lexeme denoting the name of the metal. In a denotative meaning, they characterize objects by the material from which they are made. The choice of specific metallic epithets as contextual synonyms in the structure of the epic formula is due to the phenomenon of vowel harmony inherent in most Turkic languages. The genetic community of the Yakut and Altai peoples probably explains the similar features of the metallic epithets. Also, the differences have been established: according to the frequency of using the epithets formed from the nominations of precious metals, the ancient Yakuts preferred silver, and the Altai people preferred gold. The differences and peculiarities of functioning of “metal” epithets in the Yakut and Altai epic texts can be explained by the stage difference in the development of the epic texts compared.

The relevance of the theme under consideration is determined by the need to study the traditional worldview of the people, the formation and development of their spiritual knowledge. The paper analyzes the semantic content and the formation of the vocabulary of the Yukaghir language, originating from the word Qojl (qojl), identifies the original semantics of this word, examines the evolution of the religious beliefs of the Yukaghir. The word Qojl (qojl) is associated originally with shamanistic beliefs and was representing the image of the shaman-patron of the family in the traditional culture of the Yukaghir. Later, it came to be referred to the name of the Christian God and to designate icons and saints. In the modern Yukaghir language, the word concerned is used only in the meanings of “God,” “divinity,” “icon,” “saint.” The prevalence of Qojl (qojl) - derived words in the languages of two local Yukaghir groups, the similarity of the structure and meanings of many of the lexemes indicate the archaicity of the word and the presence of a semantic relationship between the original and late sememes. An assumption has been made that the etymology of the ancient root of the word is associated with the concepts of “supernatural,” “sacred,” “divine,” “supreme,” “powerful.” The fact that the word originally comprised the concept of the supernatural and divine determined the expansion of the semantics of the word. Under the influence of Christianity, new words derived from Qojl ( qojl ), with the semantic content “referring to God,” appear in the Yukaghir language.

From the card index “Phraseologisms characterising a human being in Yakut and Turkic languages of South Siberia, Turkish and Kazakh” compiled by the author, 75 lexeme-mongolisms in the Yakut language were identified. This article is the first special study of these lexemes-mongolisms, which are part of Yakut phraseologisms (somatisms; lexemes denoting objects of material culture). The aim of this study is to identify the area of distribution of Mongolisms included in Yakut phraseological phrases, to establish phraseological parallels in other Turkic languages, to determine the motivational bases of phraseological phrases characterising human beings. Thus, to make a certain contribution to the clarification of the problem of Yakut-Mongolian contacts. The value of phraseologisms lies in the fact that remaining unchanged, they preserve national identity and reflect the characteristic features of the historical epoch in which they originated. The study of Mongolisms in the Yakut language is based on the scientific works of E.I. Ubryatova, S. Kaluzhinsky, V.I. Rassadin, N.N. Shirobokova, N.K. Antonov, G.G. Levin, A.E. Shamaeva and others. As a result of the study, it was established that: Mongolisms included in Yakut phraseologisms can be subdivided into the following types - a) Mongolisms borrowed by the Turkic-speaking ancestors of the Yakuts back in the times when they lived in the “southern” ancestral homeland; b) Mongolisms previously acquired in the “southern” ancestral homeland as part of the Turkic Kypchak component; c) Mongolisms that penetrated already in geographically separated groups of Turkic languages from certain Mongolian languages; d) Mongolisms acquired through an “unknown” Middle Mongolian source language and/or Buryat language. The overwhelming majority of the considered Yakut phraseologisms with Mongolian components do not find parallels in the Turkic languages, which confirms the thesis that the formation of these phraseologisms took place in the process of their development under conditions of non-contact with the Turkic languages of South Siberia. The prospects of the study are seen in further reconstruction of the phraseological fund of the Yakut language in order to make a significant contribution to the solution of the problem of Yakut-Mongolian contacts.

The relevance of the article reflects the rapid development of political-economic, cultural-educational and scientific relations between Russia and China, which determines the demand for training future specialists in Chinese studies in Russian universities. An emphasis is placed on training Chinese language teachers. Purpose: to consider the educational practice of Russian universities in training Chinese language teachers. The objectives are to describe the professional competencies of a foreign language teacher; characterization of forms, methods and means of training as language practice, cooperation with universities in China, participation of students in pedagogical support for schoolchildren studying the Chinese language (olympiads, competitions, festivals, projects, etc.). Methods: analysis of scholarly and pedagogical literature, generalization of practice. Results: the experience of organizing the educational process for students of the Institute of Modern Languages and regional Studies, M. K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University, is presented.

The complexity of this problem implies the need for a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach as the main principle of psychological and pedagogical support of education.

The purpose of the article is to scientifically substantiate the general structure, thematic content and information content of the GIS map for the project “Digitalization of the linguistic and cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic,” created as part of the National Spatial Data System. To study the spatial features of the distribution of languages and culture of indigenous peoples of the North, a cartographic method based on GIS technologies and geo-portal solutions was used as the most effective method for processing, analyzing, interpreting and visually presenting a large amount of information. To determine spatial qualitative characteristics and quantitative indicators, the initial information was processed taking into account the scale and selected territorial mapping grid - administrative units, natural complexes, zoning units, regular network, etc. For each of the thematic GIS layers, optimal systems of indicators and characteristics, quantitative scales, classifications, methods and means of representation, original symbol systems have been developed that meet the purpose. The research hypothesis is that the placement of the GIS project in the electronic service "Languages of Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic", which is part of the structure of the federal state information system “Unified Digital Platform “National Spatial Data System” will provide scientific, informational, methodological and factual support for developments and projects in various spheres of public life to preserve and popularize the languages and culture of indigenous peoples of the North.

This article reveals the problem of developing teamwork skills of students studying English and Chinese through the use of extracurricular activities. The purpose of our study is to determine the effectiveness of extracurricular activities in developing teamwork skills of English and Chinese language students. The purpose involves the following tasks: selecting specific extracurricular activities in accordance with selected criteria formulated on the basis of the studied features of team and extracurricular work; developing extracurricular activities to develop teamwork skills of bilingual students; conducting a survey among students at the pre- and post-experimental stage; drawing general conclusions about the experimental work. The hypothesis is based on the assumption that extracurricular activities are an important tool in the development of teamwork skills of bilingual students; they contribute to the development of students’ creative and research abilities, improvement of social and communication skills in the process of active interaction and cooperation. The study used general scientific methods of theoretical research including systematization, specification, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, evaluation and generalization, as well as empirical methods, such as observation, questioning, survey, conversation and experimental research. The results of the experimental work confirm the effectiveness of the developed set of extracurricular activities for developing teamwork skills of future teachers of English and Chinese.

The task of developing functional literacy in students today does not lose its relevance. Teachers are faced with the task of effectively integrating tasks for the formation of functional literacy into the educational process in the context of the implementation of updated Federal State Educational Standards, which requires constant improvement of professional competencies in this area. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the improvement of professional competence of English language teachers in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the formation of functional literacy. The article describes the mechanism for the implementation of advanced training courses on the formation of functional literacy of students in English lessons in the context of the implementation of the updated Federal State Educational Standards. The authors come to the conclusion that the implementation of these practice-oriented courses helps to improve the professional competence of teachers, which leads to their effective professional activities.

Translating from one language to another in the multilingual culture environment provides numerous opportunities for linguistic code-switching. The given article presents a set of exercises, specifically created for written translation teaching (German language being the source language) to the linguistics students, represented by the indigenous peoples of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia); the majority of these students have a command of a foreign language (English), apart from their knowledge of native languages - Russian and Yakut. The written translation exercises aimed at adapting German, Russian, and Yakut phaseological units, were designed while taking into account the specific features of regional students; these specific features were deciphered in the process of holding an experiment at the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University”. These exercises not only develop the written translation skills from the source language to the target languages, but also increase the linguistic-cultural competence of the students.

The purpose of the article is to describe the main stages of work on compiling the Yakut-Russian terminological dictionary on blacksmithing. The objectives are to identify the most productive term-forming methods in the Yakut language. The hypothesis is as follows: the dictionary is the first experience of systematization and inventory of the words-terms of the Yakut blacksmithing. The work used system-structural and system-functional methods of linguistic description. The results are as follows: more than 400 words-terms and terminological phrases were collected and subjected to terminology.
